Free immunizations in Marrero, Metairie

The Greater New Orleans Immunization Network bus offers free shots to children who lack insurance coverage for vaccinations.

The network also maintains a computerized registry for easy record-keeping.

The bus will be parked:

Saturday, Wal-Mart, 4810 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday, Clearview Mall, Metairie, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tulane seeking expectant mothers

Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is conducting a study to help women achieve healthier birth outcomes.

The university is recruiting women for a program to understand reproductive health care needs post-disaster to effectively plan for disasters and to improve long-term recovery.

Women are eligible to participate if they are: 18-45 years old, pregnant or giving birth on or after March 15, 2012.

The study will focus on residents of St. Bernard, St. John, St. Tammany, Plaquemines and lower Jefferson.

Superfoods, vitamins to be focus of lecture

East Jefferson General Hospital Wellness Center dietitian Rebecca Markway Lee’s lecture series continues Thursday at 5 p.m. with a discussion of superfoods, vitamins and antioxidants.

The Blood Center of Southeast Louisiana is seeking donations of whole blood and platelets.

Diabetes Support Group meets at East Jefferson General Hospital on the last Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. Members share information and support each other to promote successful diabetes management. New members are welcome.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Louisiana offers short-term counseling to assist in coping with the initial diagnosis of a seizure disorder, temporary and chronic difficulties and stress management. Efforts are directed toward promoting the healthy functioning of people with epilepsy.
