Mar 19, 2014 22:17 Four men wounded Saturday night in two shooting incidents in Gentilly Four men wounded Saturday night in two shooting incidents in Gentilly Advocate staff report March 19, 2014 Comments A shooting incident at a private party late Saturday night in Gentilly left two men injured, New Orleans police said. Police responded to the shooting in the 5200 block of Spain Street about 11:50 p.m. Earlier, just after 8 p.m., two other men were shot three blocks away, in the 5500 block of Spain Street, police said. In that incident, one man was shot in the buttocks and the other in the thigh. In the later incident, one man was shot in the neck and another was shot in the foot, police said. Both were reported to be in stable condition Sunday. A witness who gave his first name as Jeff said a 23-year-old man who lives in the house where the party was taking place asked another man to step off the front porch. He said the second man then opened fire and shot the resident in the neck. The victim collapsed on the lawn. Jeff said he was not sure how the man shot in the foot was involved. He said he held the wounded man’s hand and waited for EMS to arrive. “It was the craziest thing,” he said. He lives in the area, he said, and violence doesn’t usually happen on that block. Officer Garry Flot, a New Orleans Police Department spokesman, said he could not confirm whether the two incidents were related. Both were still under investigation Sunday.
