Man shot, killed near NOPD headquarters

A 33-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday at the intersection of South Broad Avenue and Gravier Street, according to New Orleans police spokesman Garry Flot.

Police were called to the scene at about 12:10 a.m. and found the victim lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He died at the scene.

The intersection is adjacent to police headquarters.

The man’s identification is being withheld pending notification of relatives, according to John Gagliano, chief investigator with the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office.

The lead homicide detective in the case is Joseph Jefferson.

Algiers shooting victim identified

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the man fatally shot on Friday night in the 3400 block of Vespasian Boulevard as 39-year-old Atiba Green, according to chief investigator John Gagliano.

New Orleans police received a call at 9:42 p.m. about a shooting and found Green lying in the street with gunshot wounds to the head and arms, Officer Garry Flot, a New Orleans Police Department spokesman, said.

The lead homicide detective on the case is Jeffrey Vrappie II.
