Jul 22, 2013 11:55 Pelicans add two players to Summer League squad Pelicans add two players to Summer League squad BY KEITH FREEMAN| Special to The Advocate July 22, 2013 Comments LAS VEGAS — The New Orleans Pelicans added two players and subtracted one from their NBA Summer League roster Tuesday. The new players on the 14-man roster are Damian Saunders and Jason Ellis, while 7-foot-1 Lithuanian center Mindaugas Kupsas is no longer part of the summer team. Saunders played for the Miami Heat during the 2012 Summer League. With Kupsas no longer on the roster, 6-10 forward/centers D’or Fischer and Cameron Moore are the tallest players remaining on the team. ... When the Pelicans open the Summer League against the New York Knicks on Friday, rookie guard Tim Hardaway Jr., a former Michigan player who was selected 24th in the NBA draft; veteran guard/forward Iman Shumpert; and rookie forward C.J. Leslie will headline the Knicks’ 13-man roster. ... Of the Pelicans’ non-roster players, the 6-7, 255-pound forward Jon Brockman has the most NBA experience. Brockman spent last season overseas, but before that he was in the NBA for three consecutive years with Sacramento and Milwaukee. He is the University of Washington’s all-time leading rebounder with 1,283 and the only player to lead UW in rebounding for four consecutive seasons.
