NBA notes: Pistons, Josh Smith agree to deal

DETROIT — A person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press the Detroit Pistons agreed to a $54 million, four-year contract with free agent Josh Smith.

The person spoke Saturday on the condition of anonymity because the agreement has not been announced.

NBA rules prevent confirmation of moves until July 10, when Smith is expected to sign his deal.

The 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward scored a team-high 17.4 points last season for Atlanta and also averaged 8.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.2 steals.

Hawks, Millsap, Carroll agree

Two people close to the negotiations said the Atlanta Hawks have agreed to contracts with free agents Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll.

Millsap, a former Louisiana Tech standout, and Carroll played for the Utah Jazz last season.

Cavs, Jack come to terms

CLEVELAND — A person familiar with the negotiations said the Cleveland Cavaliers and free-agent guard Jarrett Jack have agreed to a four-year contract.

The person said Jack’s deal is worth $25 million and includes a team option in the final year.

Kings, Landry agree

The Sacramento Kings and Carl Landry have agreed to a four-year deal worth at least $26 million that will bring the power forward back to California’s capital city.

Landry’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said final details of the contract were still being worked out and it could reach $27 million over the life of the deal.

Elsewhere

Sources said the Trail Blazers have agreed to a contract with free agent guard Dorell Wright, who played for the 76ers last season, and the Jazz signed draft picks Trey Burke and Rudy Gobert.

Burke was the ninth overall pick in the draft, acquired by the Jazz in a trade that sent Utah’s 14th and 21st overall picks to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 6-foot-1 point guard played two seasons at Michigan, averaging 18.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals. He had 255 assists to set the school’s single-season record.

Gobert, a 7-foot-1 center from France, was the 27th overall pick in the draft, acquired in a trade with Denver that sent the 46th overall pick and cash considerations to the Nuggets. He averaged 8.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks for Cholet Basket of the French League last season.

Terms of both contracts were not released Saturday.
