Dates for the special September teal, rails and gallinules and the woodcock seasons were approved Tuesday by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. Also outlined by state biologists are the proposed 2014 spring turkey season dates and bag limits:
Sept. 14-29 statewide with a daily limit of 6 and a possession limit of 18. Season is limited to the taking of bluewing, greenwing and cinnamon teal. Federal and state waterfowl stamps are required.
RAILS AND GALLINULES
Sept. 14-29 with the balance of the 70-day seasons for these species set when the migratory waterfowl seasons are set in August. Limits for king and clapper rails and common and purple gallinules are 15 per day each in the aggregate of the two subspecies of the two species or rails and gallinules, and 25 per day for the aggregate of sora and Virginia rails. The possession limits are three times the daily limits.
Dec. 18-Jan. 31 with a daily limit of 3 and a possession limit of 9.
SOUTH ZONE: Sept. 7-15, Oct. 19-Dec. 1 and Dec. 21-Jan. 6.
NORTH ZONE: Sept. 7-22, Oct. 12-Nov. 10 and Dec. 14-Jan. 6.
Daily limit is 15. Possession limit is 45. Mourning, white-winged, Eurasian collared doves and ringed turtle doves.
Note: There are no daily bag nor possession limits on Eurasian collared doves and ringed turtle doves provided hunters leave a full feathered wing and head on birds. Fully dressed Eurasian collared doves and ringed turtle doves must be included in the daily bag limit.
