JPSO investigates Marrero kidnapping

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 32-year-old woman authorities say was forced into a vehicle outside of a friend’s home Sunday.

Investigators are trying to locate Kynisha Kinney, who was last been being pulled into a black Cadillac in the 1000 block of Garden Road in the early morning hours Sunday, sheriff’s spokesman Col. John Fortunato said.

Friends of Kinney reported seeing her leg dangling from the door of the vehicle as it sped away but lost sight of the vehicle on the West Bank Expressway headed toward New Orleans.

Fortunato said Kinney is a black woman who is about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 215 pounds. Anyone with information can contact authorities at (504) 364-5300.

Police investigating man shot in foot

Police are investigating a shooting on Easter Sunday that left a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the foot.

The shooting was reported at 5:16 p.m. at Desire and North Prieur streets. The man told police he heard five or six shots and started running away. Police said the man later realized he’d been shot in the foot and went to a local hospital.

Man shot at for using up wireless minutes

A 49-year-old man was arrested Sunday after authorities said he shot at a roommate because the man used up all of his wireless minutes.

Eric Anderson was booked with illegal use of a weapon and possession of a firearm and a controlled dangerous substance at his home on Labarre Place. According to an arrest report, Anderson fired two shots through the wall of his home at another man because the man used up his phone’s wireless minutes. He was arrested without incident.

Club robbery tied to narcotics purchase

Police arrested a 22-year-old man Sunday morning after authorities said he robbed a man at a local club in order to persuade a drug dealer to make a deal with him.

Police arrested William Busker after an incident in the 300 block of Bourbon Street shortly before 6 a.m. Busker is accused of attempting to purchase drugs at a club and being told by a drug dealer to rob someone there to prove he wasn’t a police officer. Police accuse Busker of stealing the victim’s wallet and beating him unconscious.

Woman accused
of stabbing husband

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office booked a 35-year-old woman with aggravated battery Sunday after authorities said she stabbed her husband after arguing over a picture on her cellphone.

Chiquita Simmons was arrested at her home on Friedrichs Street in unincorporated Gretna. According to an arrest report, Simmons stabbed her husband several times in the arm after he questioned her about a picture she took with another man. She allegedly told her husband to leave their apartment and became irate when he refused.

Deputies: Man shot after pulling knife

A Metairie man was shot on Easter Sunday after he allegedly pulled a knife on a man during an argument.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 31-year-old Tony Winston, who they say shot a 40-year-old man in the buttocks after they argued and the victim displayed a knife.

Winston is accused of calling a friend to bring him a gun and then shooting the other man. He was booked with aggravated second-degree battery.

Fundraiser planned for injured officer

A fundraiser to help injured New Orleans police Officer John Passaro pay for his expenses is planned for later this month.

The concert and food-tasting will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. April 17 at Generations Hall. The event will feature a performance by Charmaine Neville, the Bucktown Allstars and Wise Guys. Tickets will be $25 and $30.
