New Orleans — Drivers should expect to find alternate routes around parts of the Central Business District as the city begins to implement the first of several road closures for Super Bowl XLVII.
Several streets around the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be closed beginning Saturday as crews begin to prepare for the Feb. 3 game: Dave Dixon Drive, Magnolia Avenue, West Stadium Drive, Howard Avenue and Sugar Bowl Drive. Crews will also close the Superdome exit from the Pontchartrain Expressway.
Traffic restrictions will intensify as the Super Bowl approaches, and parking will be limited during Carnival season, which bookends the game. Because of that, city officials are encouraging residents to use public transportation.
