Police looking for man who robbed N.O. store
NEW ORLEANS — Police searched Saturday night for a robber who stole about $500 from a convenience store in the 3000 bock of Bienville Street.
The robber is described as a thin black man in his early 20s, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with a “hashtag (#)” tattoo under his right eye, Officer Frank B. Robertson III said in a news release.
The robber walked into the store about 9:15 a.m. Saturday, pulled out a handgun, jumped over the counter and demanded money.
The robber struck the store owner several times on the head after the owner refused the demand. Then, the robber ran off with $500 given up by the victim, the release says.
The victim was treated at a hospital for moderate injuries. Police were looking into whether Saturday’s robbery was related to a similar holdup on Dec. 27 in the 3300 block of Bienville. In that incident, the robber stole between $500 and $600.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (877) 903-7867.
