60-year-old man killed in 2-car crash

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police said a 60-year-old man was killed Friday night when his vehicle collided with another at Annette and North Galvez streets.

The victim was driving west on North Galvez Street about 8 p.m. when his Chevrolet TrailBlazer hit a Kia Optima, which was lakebound on Annette Street, the New Orleans Police Department said in a news release.

The driver of the TrailBlazer was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, the release says.

The driver of the Optima also was critically injured and taken to a hospital, the release says.

The names of the people involved were not released, and the crash remains under investigation, the release says.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy, and blood and alcohol tests are pending.

Slidell man killed
in crash on La. 433

SLIDELL — A 24-year-old Slidell man died Saturday morning in a crash on La. 433 near U.S. 11, a State Police spokesman said.

Jeffrey Cuccia, 24, of Slidell, was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry west on La. 433 around 5 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, he left the roadway to the right, Trooper First Class Nick Manale said in a news release.

The left side of Cuccia’s Camry struck a tree and overturned, Manale said. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.

Troopers suspect drug impairment was a factor in the crash, but a toxicology analysis is pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, Manale said.

Cuccia was wearing a seat belt, Manale said.

4 men sought in beating, robbery

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police say they are looking for four men wanted in a beating and robbery Saturday morning at a Bourbon Street night club.

The victim and the four men were escorted around 4:30 a.m. out of a night club in the 200 block of Bourbon after being involved in a fight inside the club, police said in a news release.

Once outside, the victim continued to be aggressive toward the four men, the release says.

The men fought the victim and knocked him unconscious, the release says. One of the men took something from the victim’s pocket, and all four fled the scene.

The victim was released from the hospital Saturday after he was treated for his injuries. Police will re-interview him at a later time, the release says.

The four men are described as follows:

A medium-complexioned black male, about 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall with an average build and braided hair. He was wearing a light-colored, long-sleeved T-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

A light-complexioned black or Hispanic male, about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with short hair and a beard. He was wearing a light-colored, long-sleeved T-shirt and dark blue jeans.

A black male wearing a light-colored, floppy-eared winter hat, a green/blue sweatshirt and dark pants.

A black male wearing a baseball cap, a zip-up jacket, khaki shorts and white tennis shoes.

Police confiscate 4 guns on Bourbon St.

Police confiscated four handguns in three separate incidents on Bourbon Street Friday night, according to a New Orleans Police Department news release.

Detectives approached five men in the 300 block of Bourbon Street about 10 p.m. who allegedly were rolling a cigar with what appeared to be marijuana, finding two of the men carrying handguns, the release says.

Police arrested Jeremie Richard, 22, on one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and Jarvis Stafford, 23, on one count of illegal carrying of a concealed weapon while in possession of an illegal substance, police reported.

Two other men were booked on drug counts, the release says.

About 11:30 p.m., state troopers investigating an apparent iPhone theft at a nightclub in the 200 block of Bourbon Street found one of the alleged robbers, Michael Davis, 17, carrying a handgun in the waistband of his pants and arrested him on one count each of felon in possession of a firearm and simple theft, the release says. Troopers also arrested and booked Clinton Davis, no age available, with simple theft, the release says.

At 4 a.m., police arrested Robert Hinton, 20, at a business in the 200 block of Bourbon Street and booked him with possession of a concealed handgun after security officers saw Hinton carrying a firearm, the release says.
