Livingston Parish Fair gears up for competitions Livingston Parish Fair gears up for competitions Advocate staff report Oct. 10, 2013 Comments The 76th annual Livingston Parish Fair will start at 10 a.m. Saturday with a parade in Livingston as residents gear up for pageants, rodeos, cheer competitions, livestock shows and concerts throughout the week at the Livingston Parish Fairgrounds, 13325 U.S. 190, Livingston. The parade will start at Will Hughes Road then proceed north on La. 63 to U.S. 190 west to the fairgrounds. All pageant participants will be able to pre-register at 11 a.m. Saturday. Preschool pageants kick off Sunday’s activities when preschoolers take the stage at 1:30 p.m. The rides officially open on Tuesday with Family night. Riders can pay $15 to ride from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. The rides will run through Oct. 13. Agriculture, homemaking and floral exhibits will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, and the poultry and rabbit exhibits will start at 9 a.m. The student spelling bee will start at 7 p.m. Riders can pay $25 to ride the rides from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Oct. 9-10 and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 13. On Oct. 11, rides will cost $15 to ride from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and they will be $20 to ride from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12. Livestock competitors can begin to register their exhibits on Wednesday and the talent show will begin shortly after participants check in at 5:30 p.m. Officials will begin judging exhibits Oct. 10, and the Petite and Tiny pageant will start at 5:45 p.m. followed by Little Deb and Miss and a concert by Drake White. School children will get to enjoy the fair Oct. 11 during School Day. Older Folks Day will start at 10 a.m. and Parish fair officials will honor seniors 75 and older. Cheerleading competitions, entertainment and a rodeo will round out the day. Saturday’s fair will be all about pets as the Pet Show starts at 9 a.m., followed by the Horse Show at 11 a.m. and the Lanier Pulling Team at 1 p.m. Plenty of entertainment will be featured throughout the day as the Teens and Juniors prepare to compete at 5 p.m. A senior beauty pageant will be at 6 p.m. The fair ends Sunday but not before the rides roll from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. For information, visit www.lpsb.org.
