Sheriff Jason Ard will recap his first year in office during the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce’s monthly general membership lunch Wednesday at Forrest Grove Plantation, Denham Springs.

Ard was sworn in as the sheriff in June 2012, replacing longtime Sheriff Willie Graves who retired.

District Attorney Scott Perrilloux will join Ard and review the state of crime in the 21st Judicial District, which covers Livingston, St. Helena and Tangipahoa parishes.

Remembrance ceremony

The 2013 Cry Out America 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony and Prayer Service will be at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Livingston Parish Council Chambers in Livingston. The public, businesses, agencies, schools and churches are encouraged to attend.

International speaker

Marsha Alexander, with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church, will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walker United Methodist Church, 30167 Stump St.

Alexander is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church currently serving in the Philippines.

Live Oak High Weekend

The Live Oak High School alumni weekend will be Friday through Sunday.

On Friday, Live Oak will play St. Helena High in football. On Saturday, alumni will tour LOHS campus at 10 a.m. The LOHS Classes of 1983 and 1984 will meet at 6 p.m. at the home of Olivia Fontenot.

Class of 1993 Reunion

The Denham Springs High School Class of 1993 will hold a reunion Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Forrest Grove Plantation, 8743 Stephenson Drive off Pete’s Highway, across from Southside Junior High School. Tickets are $50 and may be purchased at the door.

Clay shoot benefit

The Livingston Parish Republican Women will hold a clay shoot benefit Sept. 19 at Riverside Sporting Clays, 52400 La. 16. Lunch is at noon, and the event begins at 1 p.m. There will be a first-place team prize, door prizes and more.

Civil War Reenactment

The 11th annual Living History and Civil War Reenactment in Springfield will be Sept. 20-22. Youth Day is Sept. 20 and will feature demonstrations, clothing, guns, flags, blacksmiths, making marbles, shooting a cannon and more. On Sept. 21 and Sept. 22, gates open at 9 a.m. with the reenactments starting at 2 p.m.
