HAMMOND — Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s detectives on Tuesday arrested a 23-year-old man accused of kidnapping a woman and raping her somewhere north of Arcola, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
Bobby Ray Dyson, of Guiteau Mill Road in Fluker, surrendered to authorities around 5 p.m. Tuesday and was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on counts of simple kidnapping and forcible rape, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said in a news release.
Panepinto said Dyson contacted an acquaintance around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and told her he was parked in her driveway and wanted to talk.
The woman exited her home and Dyson grabbed her and forced her into his car. Dyson drove to an unknown location north of Arcola, a small village north of Roseland, and raped the woman, Panepinto said.
Dyson left the woman on the side of the road several blocks from her home before fleeing, Panepinto said.
Sheriff’s detectives contacted Dyson and advised him to turn himself in. Dyson complied without incident, Panepinto said. Dyson was still jailed Wednesday on a $250,000 bail.
