The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University and the Livingston Economic Development Council will host a free seminar, “When Disaster Strikes: Emergency Preparedness for Businesses,” from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Livingston Literacy and Technology Center, 9261 Florida Blvd., Walker.
Presentations include local response updates, gauging business readiness, creating a business continuity plan, selecting the right insurance, data security and crisis communications.

Youth group sells fish dinners Friday
The Future Leaders Youth Program at the Michael J. Kenney Center in Hammond will host a fish fry from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
Dinners include fish, spaghetti and cheese, potato salad, sweet peas and a slice of cake. The cost is $8 per plate or $8.50 with a drink.

Science Saturday focuses on light
The Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory will host Science Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 20 at 19100 Ligo Road, Livingston.

Tattoo shop hosts pet benefit
Burning Lotus Tattoo will host Rock, Roll and Rescue, a benefit for the SPCA of Livingston, Aug. 24 in the parking lots of Burning Lotus Tattoo, 5 Star Printing, and Whitney Bank.
The event will feature classic cars, modified late-model cars, motorcycles, and ATVs. Preregistration is $20, and registration is $25 on the day of the event.

Soccer association signing up players
The Livingston Parish Soccer Association online registration is open for the fall soccer season. The last day to register is July 20.
