LIVINGSTON — The Livingston Parish School Board voted unanimously Thursday to enter into a cooperative endeavor agreement with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office for school resource officers.
The agreement, which will be signed by School Superintendent John Watson and Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard, calls for the School Board to reimburse the Sheriff’s Office about $212,500 each year. The figure represents one-half of the annual cost of five deputies.
School resource officers may be police officers or deputies assigned to specific schools in a district. The officers will begin work on campuses in August.
In other action Thursday, the School Board voted unanimously to join the District Cooperative of Louisiana, a group that includes 20 school Louisiana districts, to secure better prices when purchasing computers and other electronic equipment, and named David Clark principal of Walker Freshman High School and Tony Terry principal of the Pine Ridge Alternative School.
