Scholarship luncheon Outstanding local high school students will be honored at a scholarship and awards luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 10 at the Carter Plantation Resort and Golf Course, 23475 Carter Trace, Springfield. Officials at the luncheon will award the following scholarships: the Arts Award, the Alice Sibley Award, the Ability Beyond Award and the Academic Scholarship. Denham’s Got Talent Aspiring local singers and future entertainers will compete at “Denham’s Got Talent” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. April 12 at the Jacket Gym, 1000 N. Range Ave., in Denham Springs. The winner will receive a free professional recording session, hundreds of dollars worth of gifts and gift certificates and the opportunity to perform at the 2013 Dukes of Hazzard reunion. Proceeds from the event will go toward the 2013 Denham Springs High School Project Graduation, which provides a safe and entertaining environment for graduating seniors to spend their night with classmates, organizers said. The entry fee for contestants will be $20 and sign-up forms can be found online at the 2013 DSHS Project Graduation’s Facebook page, or by contacting Carey Wascom at (225) 665-8190. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $5 for adults and $3 for students with a valid school ID.
