  • PICKING AND SINGING: 3 p.m., Plainview Baptist Church’s fellowship hall, corner of Joe May Road and Walker South Road. Those who wish to play a musical instrument, sing gospel songs or just listen are invited. The church will also celebrate its annual hog roast after the “Picking and Singing” event. The “Hope” Chef’s Showcase & Silent Auction will benefit A Door of Hope, a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides a residential home with 24-hour care for young women who are struggling with life issues. They will also get to bid on silent auction items, hear from Parish President Layton Ricks and learn about A Door of Hope.
