He will begin seeing patients on Feb. 1. Zapata, as he is known professionally, has practiced medicine in the New Orleans area for more than seven years. He also served as clinical instructor of medicine at Louisiana State University in New Orleans for three years. He is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Along with fellow North Oaks Neurology Clinic physician Patricio Espinosa, Zapata specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions including seizures, headaches, movement disorders, dementia and neuromuscular conditions. Zapata has a special interest in treatment of stroke and neuromuscular diseases. “The cornerstone of my approach to patient care is respect,” Zapata said. “I believe in showing patients the compassion and dedication they deserve, as well as being their advocate to get them the help they need.” North Oaks Neurology Clinic’s medical staff includes nurse practitioners Jennifer Burtch and Sandra Capps.
