The Denham Springs High School Project Graduation volunteers plan to sponsor a 5K run/walk and 1-mile fun run/walk along Greystone Country Club’s golf course Nov. 24.

The cost of registration is $20 for those who sign up before Nov. 14 and $25 after that date. The price for registration includes a T-shirt, refreshments during the race and food, drink and entertainment following the race. To guarantee a T-shirt for race day, participants must register by Nov. 14.

Race day registration will be from 7 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. The 1-mile fun run/walk will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 5K race at 8 a.m.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Project Graduation, which will be May 17 at the North Park Auditorium after graduation ceremonies at Denham Springs High School.

Trunk or Treat event

The second annual Trunk or Treat will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Walker High School student parking lot. The event is sponsored by the Walker High School Book Club. Students, parents and club members are invited to dress in costumes, decorate a car and give out treats to trick-or-treaters ages 12 and younger.

Mental illness support

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is offering support group meetings for those who suffer from depression and bipolar disorder. The group provides a safe, confidential place to unload feelings and help for recovery, organizers said. Meetings will be at the Denham Springs-Walker Library on Florida Boulevard and the corner of Eden Church Road at 10 a.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. Nov. 7, 1 p.m. Nov. 13, 10 a.m. Nov. 21 and 3 p.m. Nov. 26. Parade floats needed

The Veterans Day Celebration and Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Nov. 10 with a ceremony honoring all veterans. A parade will follow at 1 p.m. Parade floats are needed. The Livingston Parish Veterans Association meet at 6 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month at Walker Town Hall.
