Victory Belles show to invoke nostalgia with WWII-era hits

The Amite Arts Council is sponsoring a performance by the Victory Belles at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Amite High Theatre, 403 S. Laurel St.

“The Victory Belles are an Andrews Sisters-type group,” Arts Council President Charley Vance said.

The Victory Belles will take the audience on a nostalgic journey through World War II-era musical classics and patriotic favorites like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “I’ll Be Seeing You” and “God Bless America,” he said.

“The Victory Belles often perform at the New Orleans WWII Museum’s Stage Door Canteen and at events around the globe,” Vance said.

Admission is $5 and veterans are admitted free.

All proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Tickets can be purchased at Amite City Hall, Tangi Talk Barbershop in Amite and Dr. Katie Moser’s dental office in Amite.

The Victory Belles are presented as part of Southeastern Louisiana University’s Fanfare.
