SLU alumni to host dinner and a show
The Tangi Chapter of the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association will sponsor a dinner theater featuring the production of “Capitol Steps” on Oct. 10.
Tickets are $55 per person and include dinner.
The event will be at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts at 2200 E. Thomas St. in Hammond. Dinner is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Conference Center. The production begins at 7:30 p.m. in the John J. Hainkel Performance Hall.

‘Dukes of Hazzard’ members at show
Attorney Sherman Mack will host the Dukes of Hazzard Family Reunion and Car Show from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Henderson Auctions in Livingston.
Those attending will have a chance to meet stars from “The Dukes of Hazzard” television show.
Performers include country superstar Johnny Lee and the Doug Owens Band. The event will include food, vendor booths a car show.
Warming skeptic to present lecture
Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Business will present a lecture by Lord Christopher Monckton, one of the world’s leading climate warming skeptics, school officials said.
Monckton, the Third Viscount Monckton of Brentley, will present “Is CO2 Mitigation Cost-Effective?” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the KIVA auditorium in the SLU Teacher Education Center. The program is free.

Register by Friday for golf tourney
Friday is the deadline to register for the Stop Domestic Violence golf tournament hosted by Women Outreaching Women.
The Oct. 7 event at Greystone Country Club in Denham Springs will raise money for WOW’s emergency shelter in Livingston Parish for battered women and children.
The entry fee is $500 per team and includes 18 holes of golf, dinner, prizes for the top 10 scores, a poker run, door prizes and a silent auction.

Ministry offers talks on women
Second Community Outreach Ministry, 112 E. Louisa West St., will host a Women’s Conference at 10 a.m. Oct. 6.
The theme of the event is “You Have Been Released,” Luke 10:10-13. Speakers include minister Paulette Farve, of Tabernacle MBC in Slidell; Dr. Rebecca Hensley, professor of sociology at Southeastern Louisiana University; and Missionary Cynthia Dyson, of Oak Ridge MBC in Kentwood.
