Livingston Parish residents will commemorate Sept. 11, 2001, during a ceremony — “Cry Out America, a Day of Remembrance and Prayer for Our Country” — from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Livingston Parish Council Chambers, 20399 Government Blvd.

Support group to meet
Women Outreaching Women will host a battered women’s support group at 6 p.m. Sept. 18 in Denham Springs. The meetings are open to women involved in or are survivors of domestic violence. SPCA of Livingston
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Livingston will participate in PetSmart’s National Charities National Adoption Weekend.
Adoption days will be Friday through Sunday at the PetSmart on Millerville Road, located just off of Interstate 12 near Lowes and Target.

Chamber receives award
The Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce was named the Louisiana State Small Chamber of the Year from the Louisiana Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Aug. 23 in Slidell, according to chamber officials.

Fall festival
The Denham Springs Antique District will host its annual Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 6 in downtown Denham Springs.
The festival will have more than 150 vendors featuring local and regional crafts, antiques and art that will line the streets while two stages offer a variety of musical groups. Children can enjoy free rides courtesy of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Department. Mattie Street will be transformed into an “Arts Avenue.”

Entrepreneurial program
“Write Your Own Check,” a program for youth Livingston Parish who want to become entrepreneurs, will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday nights, starting Oct. 9.
The seminar will prepare youth for the critical business planning process and address the most common issues faced by startups. The cost is $120. Scholarships are available to those who qualify.
