Employers wanted for SLU career fair
Southeastern Louisiana University’s Office of Career Services is recruiting area employers and businesses to participate in its annual Career Fair on Sept. 20.
A premier event exclusively for Southeastern students and alumni, Career Fair 2012 will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Pennington Student Activity Center on the corner of University Avenue and General Pershing.
Ken Ridgedell, director of Career Services, said the fair typically attracts more than 125 area employers.

FE-Lions schedule, campaign released
The FE-Lions, a chapter of the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association, has announced its 2012-13 schedule and recruitment campaign for new members.
Annual dues are $10. Luncheon tickets are $20. Reservations must be made in advance.
FE-Lions luncheons will be held at Trey Yuen, 2100 N. Morrison Blvd. in Hammond on Sept. 19, Oct. 10 and 25, Nov. 7 and Dec. 6. Champagne Bingo is Jan. 26 at Southeastern’s Twelve Oaks.
Funds raised by the FE-Lions help support the SLU athletic program, including raising money for endowed scholarships and other activities.

Theatrical arts extends enrollment
The Louisiana Center for Theatrical Arts will extend the enrollment date for its upcoming workshop/production of “Alice in Wonderland” due to Hurricane Isaac.
Rehearsals for “Alice in Wonderland” will begin Sept. 20,at 2200 Rue Denise, Hammond. Rehearsals will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, and are open to ages 8 to 16. The enrollment cost is $175, with an early enrollment discount of $25 if enrolled by Saturday.
The rehearsals include theater training by theater professional Anysia Manthos and last 11 weeks.

College information available at fair
High school students and their parents can receive an informal introduction to college as well as valuable information about scholarships, financial aid, and admissions requirements at the Northshore College and Career Fair from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Pennington Center, located on the corner of University Avenue and General Pershing Street.
Students can preregister for their own special bar code at lacollegefairs.com to use at the event. Many vendors will be able to scan the codes to collect the students’ contact and interest information, eliminating the need to complete information cards at each table.
