Fireworks sales to help group

Women Outreaching Women plans to sell discount fireworks until Thursday at 26852 4-H Club Road, Denham Springs.

WOW will also showcase artwork by local artists.

Proceeds from fireworks sales will benefit WOW, a nonprofit organization in Livingston Parish that operates an emergency shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence.

Clinic unites with North Oaks System

Dr. Nancy R. Mellin and the Northshore ENT clinic have joined the North Oaks Physician Group network of North Oaks Health System.

The clinic will remain at 42401 Pelican Professional Park in Hammond, with the same name, office staff and phone number of (985) 542-9155. Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Chamber to hold annual honors event

The Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee will honor support personnel, teachers and principals of the year Wednesday at Forrest Grove Plantation, 8743 Stephenson Drive, Denham Springs.

Check in begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program and lunch will start at noon.

State Rep. Rogers Pope, R-Denham Springs, will be the speaker. The cost is $16 per person, and includes lunch.

Support Personnel of the Year are Sheli Harris, secretary, French Settlement High School; Toni Bennett, para professional, Gray’s Creek Elementary; Francis Vaughn, food service, South Fork Elementary; Tina Stevenson, custodian, Levi Milton Elementary; and Lisa Stewart, bus driver, Walker High School.

Teachers of the Year are Jamie Griffin, North Live Oak Elementary; Leanne Payne, Southside Junior High; and Margaret Westmoreland, Walker High School.

Principals of the Year are Staci Milton, Seventh Ward Elementary; Myra Homes, Southside Junior High; and Dana Nolan, Walker Freshman High.

Arts Council plans beginner classes

The Livingston Parish Arts Council will hold a beginner drawing and painting class for ages 16 and up from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 12, 19 and 26. The cost is $25 per class.
