National honor society inducts 86 from SLU

Southeastern Louisiana University inducted 86 undergraduate and graduate students into its chapter of the national honor society, Phi Kappa Phi.

At the chapter’s annual induction banquet April 24, accounting major Tammy D. Flowers, of Hammond, and Spanish education major Erica Morse, of Loranger, were named recipients of the SLU Phi Kappa Phi Lou Ballard Endowed Scholarship. Teryn Ivey Elam, of Hammond, was named the Outstanding Honors Student.

Recognized as Outstanding Juniors from either Livingston or Tangipahoa parishes was physics major Bishwas Ghimire, Hammond. The honors organization also honored several members of the SLU faculty and alumni.

Inducted, from either Livingston or Tangipahoa parishes were Dayne Sherman, reference librarian, Ponchatoula; education instructor Paul Simoneaux, Hammond; and alumnus Daryl Ferrara, vice president/branch manager of Whitney Bank, Hammond.

To be considered for membership in the organization, a student must be in the top 10 percent of the senior or graduate class or a second semester junior in the top 7.5 percent of his or her class.
