Residents concerned about a proposed housing development on Fore Road in Watson Heights are invited to a public forum at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Live Oak Elementary School, 35194 Old La. 16.
Neighbors In Action invited developers to discuss plans and answer questions about the possibility of HUD financing.
Kids Conservation Club
Bass Pro Shop has started a Conservation Club for youth. The goal of the club is to help educate children on what they can do to promote conservation in wildlife and the environment.
An organizational meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the seminar room at Bass Pro Shop, 175 Bass Pro Blvd., Denham Springs.
Children ages 8 to 18 and their parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

VITA tax preparation
The Denham Springs-Walker Library hosts VITA Tax Preparation by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sunday, and Feb. 23; from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 25; and from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 28.
Co-sponsored by Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and the Internal Revenue Service, the sessions will offer free tax preparation for participants with an income limit of $50,000 for 2011.
Those interested are asked to bring their tax documents such as W-2s, 1099s, and information for deductions and credits along with a copy of last year’s tax return and a Social Security card for themselves, a spouse and dependents.
They may also bring proof of a bank account in order to receive a tax refund by direct deposit.
Volunteers will prepare most simple returns.

FSHS reunion planning
Those who graduated or attended French Settlement High School from 1930 to 1970 are invited to a reunion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The cost is $40 per couple and $20 per single.
Those attending are asked to bring drinks.
Food and music will be provided, organizers said.
Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by April 1.
A planning committee meets every other Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Dutch’s Restaurant in Port Vincent.
The next meeting will be Feb. 21.
