Livingston warns drivers to obey traffic laws as schools reopen Livingston warns drivers to obey traffic laws as schools reopen Florida Parishes bureau Aug. 22, 2013 Comments Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies will be on duty at all school zone locations Friday to enforce school zone speed limits as well as other traffic laws, the Sheriff’s Office said. Livingston Parish’s first day of school is Friday. Other law enforcement agencies also will monitor school zone locations, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Gene Higginbotham said in a news release. School zone speeds vary, so drivers need to pay attention to posted speed limits and time frames for school zones, Higginbotham said. Drivers are asked to look out for all school zones and pay attention to crossing guards and children crossing the street. School buses also will make frequent stops. Drivers should give themselves additional time for their daily commute Friday in anticipation of traffic from the first day of school, Higginbotham said. “We want this school year to be a great one and would like to encourage everyone to drive safely,” Higginbotham said.
