St. James School Board OKs new Luce contract St. James School Board OKs new Luce contract BY KATE STEVENS| Special to The Advocate Dec. 07, 2012 Comments LUTCHER — The St. James Parish School Board, in a 4-2 vote Monday, approved a new four-year contract for Superintendent Alonzo Luce. Luce confirmed after the meeting that he was offered a position at the Louisiana Department of Education but declined further comment. School Board President Charles Nailor and School Board members Carolyn Lambert, Diana Cantillo and Richard Reulet, Jr. voted to approve the new contract at Monday’s special meeting while School Board members Patricia Schexnayder and Kenneth Foret voted against the motion. School Board member George Nassar, Jr. was out of town and did not attend the meeting. Originally hired in 2007, Luce’s current contract was given a four-year extension just last year and was not set to expire until 2015. Nailor said the superintendent told him it wasn’t about making more money, but rather about stability and building security within the school system.
