Panel to find Tech president

The University of Louisiana system Board of Supervisors on Monday named 11 people to serve on the Louisiana Tech University Presidential Search Committee.

The committee will hold its first meeting at 10:30 a.m. and public forum at 1 p.m. Sept. 25 on the main floor of the Student Center on the Ruston campus.

The committee will find the successor to 26-year President Dan Reneau, who is scheduled to retire June 30.

The UL system board members named to the committee are: Edward Crawford, of Shreveport; student member William Dearmon; Jimmy Faircloth, Alexandria; David Guidry, Harvey; Jimmy Long Sr., Natchitoches; Russell Mosely, Baton Rouge; Wayne Parker, Choudrant; and Winifred Sibille, Sunset.

A Tech faculty member will be named to the committee by the University Senate at a later date, UL system spokeswoman Jackie Tisdell said in a news release.

Nonvoting members include Ruston Mayor Dan Hollingsworth and Louisiana Tech Foundation President-Elect Jack Byrd.
