— The East Feliciana Parish School Board accepted its annual audit report Tuesday for the fiscal year that ended June 30, noting that auditors found no irregularities or violations.

“This is the first time in the history of the School Board that we had no adverse findings,” Superintendent Douglas Beauchamp said.

During the past school year, the board received revenue of $15.9 million in its general fund and spent $17.3 million.

A total of $1.4 million transferred to the general fund from a salary supplement fund and a federal program gave the school system $38,707 more in revenue than expenses to end the year and bumped the board’s reserve up to $955,377.

The general fund supports most instructional programs and support activities.

Beauchamp also reported enrollment dropped 18 students in kindergarten through 12th grade between Oct. 1 and Feb. 1, when the state requires a second enrollment count to determine state Minimum Foundation Program funding.

Clinton Elementary School lost 26 students, while others showed small gains to cut the loss by eight.

“They’re moving out of the parish. Most of them moved out of state,” Clinton Elementary Principal Jerry Mack told board members.

Students in pre-kindergarten classes are not counted for MFP funding, but the program for 4-year-olds is funded through other state appropriations.
