Time Out Lounge plans to reopen Time Out Lounge plans to reopen BY TIMOTHY BOONE| firstname.lastname@example.org June 14, 2014 Comments The owners of Time Out Lounge, a neighborhood bar that was destroyed by a fire in December, are looking to re-establish the business just off Perkins Road. Owners Jay and Kathleen Byers have filed a permit to rezone a building at 3180 Valley Street for use as a bar. The building is just behind Bin Q (formerly Cuban Liquor). The rezoning is set to go before the city-parish Planning Commission at its July 21 meeting. Jay Byers said he looked at numerous locations around town before finding the Valley Street site. The existing building is 5,000 square feet, but the Time Out will take up 3,000 square feet. The Time Out had been located on Old Hammond Highway. “Our customers have been telling us, please find something so you can get back in business,” Jay Byers said. The new location won’t be a physical duplicate of the old Time Out, but it will have the same spirit of the original location. “We want something that has the friendship feeling of a neighborhood bar,” Kathleen Byers said. If all goes well, the Byers hope to open the new Time Out by the middle of August. Follow Timothy Boone on Twitter, @TCB_TheAdvocate.
