Fitness center buys Siegen land Fitness center buys Siegen land BY TIMOTHY BOONE| email@example.com May 03, 2014 Comments A national fitness chain paid $1.3 million for 5.7 acres of land on Siegen Lane and plans to build a health club on the site. LA Fitness closed on the land near Academy Sports, at Industriplex Boulevard, according to documents filed Thursday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s Office. The seller was Siegen Retail LLC. LA Fitness operates more than 500 health clubs across the U.S. and Canada. This would be the company’s first location in Louisiana. At the Trends in Real Estate Seminar held earlier this month, it was announced that LA Fitness had the site under contract and planned on building a 38,000-square-foot exercise center at the site. Charlie Colvin of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate helped broker the deal. The LA Fitness center is a half-mile from where Planet Fitness is working on a new location in the Siegen Village shopping center. The chain is currently renovating nearly 30,000 square feet of retail space that had been home for a Stage store.
