Trends in Real Estate Seminar set next week Trends in Real Estate Seminar set next week BY TIMOTHY BOONE| firstname.lastname@example.org April 12, 2014 Comments The 26th annual Trends in Real Estate seminar will be held at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the BREC Independence Park Theater at 7800 Independence Blvd. in Baton Rouge The annual conference features local experts talking about current and forecast trends in various sectors of the real estate market, including single-family residential, multi-family, office, retail and industrial. R. Deane Bryson, 2014 Trends chairman, said as of Friday morning, about 450 people had registered for the seminar. “That’s on pace, or slightly higher than it has been for the past few years,” said Bryson, a broker/agent with NAI/Latter & Blum. Bryson credited the strong turnout to improving conditions in the local real estate market. “Transactions are improving and banks are loosening up the financing for spec projects,” he said. Along with the presentations from local market experts, this year’s seminar will feature a keynote address from Elliot Eisenberg, formerly the senior economist with the National Association of Home Builders. Eisenberg is an entertaining speaker: Bryson called him the “Bill Nye of economics.” “It’s good to have a speaker like this, who can bring a national feel,” Bryson said. “He’s going to cut down some of the national data and hone in on how it affects Louisiana.” More information is available online at batonrougetrends.net. Admission is $65 at the door. Trends started in 1988 as a joint project of the commercial and investment division of the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors and LSU’s Real Estate Research Institute.
