Apr 5, 2014 23:21 Dr Pepper Snapple picks BR, N.O. distributors Dr Pepper Snapple picks BR, N.O. distributors Advocate staff report April 05, 2014 Comments Dr Pepper Snapple Group is closing a regional distribution center in Gonzales and has agreements with Baton Rouge Beer Agency and Crescent Crown Distributing in New Orleans to distribute many of its soft drink and noncarbonated beverage brands in southeastern Louisiana. Effective July 7, Crescent Crown picks up distribution of 7UP, Snapple, Canada Dry, A&W Root Beer, Sunkist, Hawaiian Punch and a number of other Dr Pepper Snapple Group and allied brands in greater New Orleans. Baton Rouge Beer will carry largely the same roster of products in Baton Rouge. 7UP Snapple Southeast, a Dr Pepper Snapple Group regional subsidiary, has handled distribution of these brands since 2007 through a sales and distribution center in Gonzales. It will continue to do so through the transition to Crescent Crown and Baton Rouge Beer. At that time, the company will close its operations in Gonzales. 7UP Snapple Southeast has about 80 employees working out of the Gonzales branch and is providing severance packages, career counseling and outplacement assistance for those local workers. “Crescent Crown and Baton Rouge Beer are both great companies with extensive local market knowledge, strong delivery networks and the capability to continue growing our brands in southeastern Louisiana,” said Stan Sweitzer, regional vice president for DPS. Baton Rouge Beer Agency is the wholesale distributor of Miller Brewing, Heineken, Shiner and other popular beverage brands serving the parishes of East and West Baton Rouge, East and, West Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, as well as the portion of Ascension Parish east of the Mississippi River. The company was founded in 1917 as B. Olinde & Sons Co. LLC. “The addition of DPS’s brands to our distribution portfolio makes Baton Rouge Beer Agency a complete beverage company,” said Scott Van Matre, vice president of sales and operations with the company. “With this agreement, we’re picking up iconic brands with a passionate consumer following.” “We are very excited to be adding these brands to our trucks and delivering even more value and service to our great retail customers throughout the New Orleans, Northshore, Thibodaux and southeastern Louisiana areas,” said Chris Westcott, vice president of sales and marketing with Crescent Crown. Crescent Crown Distributing is a wholesale distributor of malt beverages and nonalcoholic beverages with distribution territories in Arizona and Louisiana and 1,150 employees serving customers through distribution centers located in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans and Thibodaux, as well as Mesa and Surprise, Ariz.
