Greenwell Springs building acquired Greenwell Springs building acquired BY TIMOTHY BOONE| firstname.lastname@example.org March 21, 2014 Comments A building on Greenwell Springs Road that used to be a Blockbuster Video location has been sold for $500,000 to one of the tenants. Saad Greenwell Springs Property LLC bought the 4,800-square-foot building at 8949 Greenwell Springs in a deal that was filed Wednesday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s Office. The seller was Joe’s Westlake Baton Rouge Property Co. The building currently has two tenants: Direct Auto Insurance and Kicks Plus, a shoe store. Kicks Plus is owned by Abdul Saad, who is a principal in Saad Greenwell, said Joey Canella, an agent with Beau Box Commercial Real Estate who represented the buyer and the seller. Canella said the building had been owned by a California investor, who bought it about 14 years ago when it was still a Blockbuster. Blockbuster pulled out of Greenwell Springs a few years ago, as the company slid into bankruptcy. Direct General and Kicks Plus moved in a couple of years ago. The insurance company and the shoe store still have about a three-year lease on the property, Canella said.
