United Concordia is a national insurer with more than 98,700 dentists and over six million members. United Concordia’s participating dentists get a 20 percent discount from LocalMed’s standard fee for using its online appointment service. “Partnering with United Concordia means bringing convenience to patients and a much more efficient office to their participating providers,” said Keith English, LocalMed’s chief executive officer. LocalMed began its business life at the LSU Student Incubator at the Louisiana Business & Technology Center in LSU Innovation Park. “This is great to see a company formed by LSU students prior to graduation develop into one of the nation’s top technology providers in the medical and dental field,” said Charles F. D’Agostino, executive director at Louisiana Business & Technology Center. “These students created jobs for themselves and for fellow graduates and students.” Editor’s note: This story was changed Jan. 29, 2014, to clarify that participating United Concordia dentists receive a LocalMed discount. The insurer’s members pay nothing to use the appointment service.
