Michelle Singletary, the columnist for “The Color of Money,” will be the guest speaker for a Saturday forum being organized by Louisiana Jump$tart, a coalition of 40 organizations involved in the financial education of youths and adults.
The “Money Matters” forum will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Pennington Conference Center, 6400 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge.
Singletary, a Washington Post syndicated columnist, will make the opening remarks on planning, spending and saving, then lead a budgeting and debt-reduction workshop.
Other topics at the forum are understanding credit reports, credit scores and how to build credit; the basics of investments; and a consumer fraud and identity theft workshop.
