200 CB&I workers going into Towne Center

CB&I has signed a lease for the former State Farm office in Towne Center and plans to locate employees there by the end of October.

CB&I will occupy all of the 66,000-square-foot building, said Gentry Brann, a company spokeswoman.

The building, at 2370 Towne Center Blvd., near Jefferson and Corporate, has space for 200 employees.

CB&I, which finalized the $3 billion acquisition of Baton Rouge’s The Shaw Group in February, announced in July it would centralize CB&I’s government solutions division in Baton Rouge, a move that will create 400 new jobs.

CB&I is pulling employees from about 20 locations across the U.S. into Baton Rouge.

About half of the employees from the consolidation will work at the CB&I offices on Essen Lane, while the remainder will be in the Towne Center location.

Towne Center will be home for federal services business unit employees.

The State Farm building has been vacant since summer, when the insurance company moved its Baton Rouge office into the Bon Carré Business Center off Florida Blvd.

Chip Ray, president of CB&I’s government solutions division, has said he hopes the Baton Rouge consolidation will be completed by the end of the year.

Brann said the centralization plans are moving forward and employees are being relocated into Baton Rouge.
