Business honors for Sept. 29

Foundation for Louisiana, based in Baton Rouge with offices in New Orleans, is among 12 community foundations chosen by the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy for the 2013 Community Foundation Hall of Fame. The foundation is being recognized for its work in citizen engagement.


Louisiana Health Cooperative Inc., a nonprofit health coverage option for individuals and small employers in Metairie, has earned an interim accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Designation of the quality and accountability standard is based on evaluations by a team of health care professionals.

St. Charles Surgical Hospital has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program for meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care. The hospital is required to track the outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and collect data that directs patient safety and the quality of surgical care improvements.


Sweet Crude Rum, made by Rank Wildcat Spirits in Lafayette, is among six winners in the Washington Cup Competition for American-made spirits and liqueurs. Entries were subjected to three levels of judging: judges’ choice, bartenders’ choice and peoples’ choice.
