Business honors for Sept. 22

Entergy Corp. was named among the nation’s Top 10 utilities in economic development by Site Selection magazine for its 2012 efforts to help attract more than $26 billion in projects that could create up to 10,000 jobs in its service region. Entergy also has been recognized by the 2013/2014 Dow Jones Sustainability World and North America Indices for accomplishments in economic, environmental and social performance in 2012. This is the 12th consecutive year the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which measures the sustainable value companies provide to stakeholders, has included Entergy on either its World or North America index or both. Entergy earned top scores in biodiversity; scorecards/measurements; water-related risks; human capital development; corporate and citizenship/philanthropy.

Tammy O’Connor, director of emergency services for St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales, received the Mae Webb Excellence in Emergency Nursing Award from the Louisiana Council of Emergency Nurses in recognition of her ongoing contributions to emergency nursing.

Contributions recognized included implementing a Workplace Violence Prevention program in the hospital’s emergency department; maintaining outstanding throughput times; promoting staff education; and patient satisfaction.

The Our Lady of the Lake Trauma Center has earned the designation of a Level II Trauma Center from the American College of Surgeons and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. Trauma centers are distinguished from an emergency room because the center brings together more health care disciplines that are available 24 hours a day. These include trauma surgeons, emergency care physicians, nurses and techs, respiratory therapists, laboratory technicians, a blood donor center and pastoral care.

Tracie Eisworth, an accounting manager with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, has earned the designation of Certified Government Finance Officer from the Louisiana Government Finance Officers Association. The certification recognizes special skills and knowledge required in government financial management.
