Tech Park offers video game development course Tech Park offers video game development course Advocate business staff report Sept. 07, 2013 Comments Louisiana Technology Park’s digital media incubator, Level Up Lab, is launching a series of video game development training courses called GameLab. The courses are designed for developers at every level, from novice to professional. The first course will be an introduction to game design to allow participants to design video games without any knowledge or experience in development. It is scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Tech Park in the Bon Carré Business Center at 7117 Florida Blvd. in Baton Rouge. The cost is $99 for students and $150 for the general public. In the course, GameLab will be using a development engine called GameSalad, a development tool that requires no design experience. Participants will design an entire level and game for mobile platforms. They’ll also learn what royalty-free software, art and music are available online, so they can continue making games at home. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops, so they will be able to take their work home with them. Other courses will be scheduled throughout the year as well.
