The city-parish Planning Commission approved Monday Mike Wampold’s plans to tear down the One Lakeshore Place apartments on Stanford Avenue and replace them with a new 241-unit complex.
The commission approved the site plan for the Lakeshore Place development at its monthly meeting. The complex will consist of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, along with a pool, courtyard and parking garage.
Wampold has owned One Lakeshore Place, a 50-year-old complex with 122 units, since 1985. The complex is next to the Crescent at University Lakes, a luxury condominium development he opened several years ago.
In other commission business Monday:
IBM COMPLEX: A site plan was approved for the $55 million IBM complex, scheduled to open in 2015 along Lafayette Street downtown. That project will consist of an eight-story software development center and an 85-unit residential tower, connected by a terrace. Plans also call for nine row homes, 3,850 square feet of retail and 408 parking spaces. A groundbreaking for the IBM building will be held sometime in September.
FEDEX: A planned unit development was approved for a FedEx distribution facility north of Siegen Lane and Interstate 10. Plans are to build a 175,374-square-foot office and warehouse facility. That’s significantly larger than the 24,440-square-foot facility on Harrell’s Ferry that has been FedEx’s local home since 2008.
WOODLANDS AT PERKINS ROWE: A revised site plan was approved for the 334-unit multifamily project just east of the NeuroMedical Center and south of Dawson Creek. The plan was approved by the commission in November. Developer David Alexander said the new plans keep the number of units the same, but reduces the height of buildings from four stories to three.
