Addition, remodeling seminar scheduled

The Capital Region Builders Association and The Remodelers Council of Greater Baton Rouge will hold a seminar for consumers who are considering an addition or remodeling project.

The event will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library at 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd. in Baton Rouge.

The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors has partnered with CRBA to help educate the public on how to avoid getting scammed by unlawful contractors and to better understand the correct licenses they should expect from their contractor.

Topics include where and how to start a remodeling project; licenses and/or permits that are required by a contractor; why the lowest bid might actually be the most costly; and how to design and make the changes to a home so occupants can remain there as they get older.
