An independent company that measures smartphone coverage and wireless carriers across the United States said that Verizon had the strongest overall performance in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Verizon was found to have the fastest times to upload and download data and was the quickest at loading webpages and apps, according to a report from RootMetrics, a Seattle-based firm.
RootMetrics developed the report by making 16,907 call, data and text tests in metro New Orleans from April 14 to April 20 and 16,805 call, data and text tests in metro Baton Rouge from April 22 to April 27.
The company made the calls and texts from the HTC Droid DNA and the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphones.
Verizon also had the most reliable data network and the fewest dropped calls.
The company was slightly behind AT&T for best text performance.
RootMetrics measures the performance of wireless carriers twice a year in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
The company noted that AT&T was rated as having the best overall performance in Baton Rouge and New Orleans at the end of 2012. But Verizon’s speed picked up and AT&T’s slowed in Baton Rouge.
Sprint was rated as having the lowest overall performance in New Orleans, while T-Mobile fared worst in Baton Rouge. AT&T was ranked second overall in both cities.
