WorkSite Lighting, a six-year-old Prairieville business that manufactures lighting equipment, is set to move into a new facility within the next month.
The move will allow WorkSite to have its offices and manufacturing operations in the same 8,000-square-foot building at 16079 Airline Highway.
That’s near the company’s current offices, which are at 17212 Airline Highway. WorkSite, which has 10 employees, anticipates hiring 20 additional workers once it moves into the new building, said Valerie Brown, director of marketing.
“We currently have a separate building for our offices and manufacturing,” Brown said. “That creates some challenges.”
WorkSite makes LED lights that can be used in conditions where sparks or heat could create an explosion. The lights are used by the oil and gas industry.
The company also makes portable lights that can be used at construction sites and portable power distributors.
The Ascension Economic Development Corp. said WorkSite will spend about $2 million on the new facility.
WorkSite would not disclose specific sales figures. Brown said the company anticipates its revenue for the year will be an 80 percent increase over 2012. And WorkSite posted a 67 percent revenue increase in 2012 over the previous year.
