Business Honors for May 19 Business Honors for May 19 Richard O'Quinn, Central Physical Therapy Advocate story May 25, 2013 Comments BATON ROUGE AREA Richard O’Quinn, a physical therapist at Central Physical Therapy, has received the Herdman Certification for Vestibular Rehabilitation. The certification acknowledges the expertise to test and treat patients with vestibular issues like dizziness and loss of balance. GeoEngineers Inc.’s in-house laboratory in Baton Rouge has earned certification from the United States Army Corps of Engineers. To meet certification standards, GeoEngineers added a five-inch diameter soil sample extruder to its laboratory equipment. It can now work directly for the corps on coastal projects and continue to work on any projects related to levees or other areas under corps jurisdiction. The Capital Area United Way and Internal Revenue Service presented awards related to the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, naming St. James Parish government, Site of the Year; Entergy, Partner of the Year; Capital One, Supporter of the Year; Carolyn Forbes, with the Denham Springs Library, Volunteer of the Year; and Tracy Warren, with the St. Gabriel Tax Center, Site Coordinator of the Year. NEW ORLEANS AREA Mark Surprenant, a partner at Adams and Reese in New Orleans who serves as the liaison partner of the firm’s pro bono committee, has received the William Reece Smith Jr. Special Services Pro Bono Award from the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals. The award recognes those who bring about innovations, generate support for, provide assistance to or have positive influence on pro bono services on state, regional and national levels.
