First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana increased to 2,444 last week from the previous week’s total of 1,663.
The state labor department said initial claims were below the comparable week a year earlier at 3,141.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 2,013 from the previous week’s total of 2,117.
Continued unemployment claims for the week ending April 6 decreased to 23,218, compared to the previous week’s total of 23,438. The four-week moving average for such claims decreased to 24,270 from the previous week’s average of 25,361.
