VooDoo BBQ & Grill is set to open a new location Thursday in Perkins Rowe in Baton Rouge, next to the lifestyle center’s movie theater.
This will be the fourth location in the Capital Region for VooDoo, which is headquartered in Prairieville, going along with locations in the Drusilla Shopping Center, on Nicholson Drive near Tiger Stadium and in Denham Springs. VooDoo will be located in the old Fish City Grill space, which has been vacant for several years.
Brad Smith, who co-owns the local franchise with Joe Scardino, said in a news release that Perkins Rowe is a good spot for the restaurant.
“There are a lot of new restaurants and shops opening up there, and the movie theater is right there, so it offers an opportunity to dine before or after the movie in 30 minutes or less,” Smith said.
About 40 people will work in the restaurant, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
VooDoo, which started in New Orleans in 2002, has 16 restaurants open or in the works in Louisiana, Florida and South Carolina. Smith and Scardino plan to open a location in Lafayette in the next year or so.
