BeFitBR Workout for April 2013 BeFitBR Workout for April 2013 Standing overhead: Stand with legs hip width apart holding towel taut at waist height. Inhaling, raise towel overhead, allowing your shoulder blades to slide back as you lift. Only go as far as comfortable without lifting the shoulders. Exhale on the down motion. Repeat 10 times. Advocate story April 15, 2013 Comments Donna Shearman, owner of The Pilates Studio, demonstrates the ‘towel routine,’ which is adapted from the work of Pilates master Ron Fletcher. Since the only equipment is a standard bath towel, it’s easy to do at home and on vacation. This routine is good for a stiff neck or tight upper back, chest and shoulders. It’s also great for combating ‘computer slouch.’ Shearman, a 30-year veteran of the fitness business, is nationally certified by Physical Mind Institute, Body Arts and Science International, and PM, the Pilates industry’s certifying body.
