Bring toes together and knees shoulder width apart or wider. Lean forward, bringing forehead to the floor. Place arms alongside body with palms facing up. Take several deep breaths, relaxing neck, shoulders and back. Variation: Place arms in front to open the chest and shoulders and lengthen the spine. Begin each session by centering – standing or seated, close eyes and become aware of your breath for a minute or two. In each pose, try to take 3-5 slow, deep breaths. Move slowly and only do what feels good. Keegan, a Registered Yoga Teacher and Integrative Life Coach, has been teaching hatha yoga for more than 17 years to all ages – from 3 year olds in Montessori to seniors.
